River Basins

There are seventeen river basins which are either contained within or pass through the State of Noth Carolina.  Each of these large basins is comprised of many smaller sub-basins.  When learning about the watershed you will be monitoring, it is important to know your place within your river basin.  What happens up and downstream of you may affect your monitoring and restoration efforts. The Department of the Environment and Natural Resources, Division of Water Quality is working on developing a Basinwide Plan for each of the seventeen river basins.  Learn more about their work.
